LONG ISLAND, NY — It's going to be a weird weather week on Long Island, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service. The week is starting out unseasonably warm, but very windy. Then the winter weather comes back, bringing snow and ice with it.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a wind advisory in effect until midnight Tuesday with gusts of up to 50 mph. The advisory is in effect for northern Nassau County and all of Suffolk County. As of 9:30 p.m., PSEG Long Island says 1,211 of its customers are without power. See the outage map.

Once the wind dies down Wednesday, temperatures are going to climb. The high for Wednesday is predicted to be over 60 degrees, but there's also a chance of rain.

The heat won't last long, though. Temperatures will drop Wednesday night and go back to seasonal norms Thursday. It will lead to rain, then snow, then a mix Thursday. Long Island could see about an inch of snowfall, according to the National Weather Service.

"Impacts to the Friday morning commute are likely, but specific snow and ice amounts remain a bit uncertain at this time," a hazardous weather outlook issued for the region says.
