Wrestling Match to Honor Fallen Soldier from Levittown
Friday's match will honor SPC Daniel Fuentes, an Island Trees wrestler who was killed in action in Baghdad in 2007.
Island Trees High School Wrestling is taking on Lynbrook Friday in a special match honoring a graduate who was killed in action in Iraq.
The Daniel Fuentes Memorial Wrestling Match is set for 6 p.m. at Island Trees High School. Food, 50/50, and raffle prizes will be available at the match.
All proceeds will go to the Daniel Fuentes Memorial Scholarship Fund and for 9/11 vets. Head to the Facebook event page here.

After graduating Island Trees in 2005, Fuentes, who wrestled on the school’s team for several years, enlisted in the Army.
In 2007, SPC Fuentes was deployed to Iraq to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sadly, Fuentes was killed in Baghdad on April 6, 2007.

After his death, the Fuentes family established the Daniel Fuentes Memorial Scholarship Fund at Island Trees High School. The fund has awarded several scholarships to students who show honesty, loyalty, and courage like Daniel.
