LINDENHURST & COPIAGUE, NY— Two South Shore beaches have been closed yet again to bathing due to excess levels of bacteria, the Suffolk County Health Department announced on Tuesday.

Visitors of Tanner Park Beach in Copiague and Venetian Shores Beach in Lindenhurst are prohibited from swimming until further notice, the department said.

According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. Gregson Pigott, bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
