25-Year-Old LI Man Charged With Animal Cruelty

His emaciated dog was found confined in a pen on a commercial property last month.

A 25-year-old Long Island man faces an animal cruelty charge, Suffolk County SPCA officials announced Thursday.

Dayron Wellington, of Amityville, is charged with one count of failure to provide proper sustenance for his 1-year-old doberman named Draco.

The emaciated dog was found confined in a pen on a commercial property in Farmingdale on Nov. 7 with no food, water or proper shelter, the SPCA said.

Draco was removed from the property and transported to the Babylon Animal Shelter.

Wellington is scheduled to appear in First District Court on Feb. 19, 2020.
