BOE Meeting Tonight Moves to LHS; FEMA Will Be There

Tonight's Lindenhurst Board of Education meeting will now be at the high school, and a FEMA rep will be there to answer individual questions afterward, say school officials.

The monthly business meeting of the Board of Education that was rescheduled for tonight will now take place at the Lindenhurst High School.

It was supposed to take place at the McKenna Administration Building at 8 p.m. tonight, November 14, as confirmed by Superintendent Richard Nathan earlier on Wednesday.

This was after already being postponed last Wednesday following Hurricane Sandy.

However, Lindenhurst school officials told Patch on late Wednesday afternoon the meeting will still start at 8 p.m. tonight, but at the LHS auditorium.

Officials also said a FEMA representative will be present to answer indivdual questions after the meeting.

This information was also posted on the District's website.

Separately the Lindenhurst Memorial Library is now set up as a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center, with FEMA representatives and New York state agencies there every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. until further notice, according to the LML website.

However, despite some talk about this in the community, FEMA won't be set up at Bower Elementary School.

"We haven't been asked to use the building at this time," the superintendent said earlier on Wednesday.

Lindenhurst Village Administrator Shawn Cullinane also told Patch on Tuesday that FEMA was only at Bower temporarily on November 1 and 2.

"They're now headquartered at the library," Cullinane noted.
