Suffolk Man Points Loaded Gun At Police, Caught With Ghost Gun, Cocaine: Cops

Detectives had executed a search warrant in his home when he threatened the officers, police say.

COPIAGUE, NY — A Copiague man was arrested and charged on Friday, after he threatened officers with a loaded handgun, and detectives found numerous illegal guns and drugs in his home, Suffolk County Police said.

Cory Tyson, 40, was charged with nine counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing a police officer with a firearm, three counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of narcotics, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

At 6 a.m., detectives executed a search warrant at Tyson's 44th Street home, following an anonymous tip and an investigation.

When police entered the home, Tyson pointed a loaded illegal 9 MM semi-automatic handgun at Emergency Service Officers and refused numerous police directives to put the weapon down, officials said.

After several minutes, Tyson complied and was taken into custody without further incident, police said.

Inside the home, officers recovered three additional illegal 9 MM handguns, one illegal 9 MM polymer P80 ghost gun, three illegal assault weapons, two shotguns, and six high-capacity ammunition devices.

Additionally, 20 grams of cocaine, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and a digital scale were all seized, police said.

He appeared in court Saturday, police said.
