Drunken Suffolk Driver Crashes Into Car, Takes Off, Only To Catch Fire: Cops
The man's car went aflame after losing a tire in the crash, police say.
LINDENHURST, NY — A man was arrested and charged on Wednesday night, after he drove while intoxicated, crashed into a parked car, lost a tire, and continued to leave the scene of an accident in Lindenhurst, Suffolk County Police said.
Anthony Lacorte, 37, of Massapequa, was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with property damage, police said.
At about 11:40 p.m., Lacorte was driving a 2015 GMC Sierra when he crashed the vehicle into a parked car in front of a Lido Parkway residence. The GMC lost a tire in the crash, but Lacorte continued driving, police said.

The sparks from the tire rim driving on pavement caused the GMC to catch fire at the
intersection of 2nd Avenue and South 4th Street, where Lacorte exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, police said.
First Precinct Patrol officers apprehended and arrested Lacorte a short distance away.

Lacorte was held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip later today, police said.
