Electric Scooter Rider Seriously Hurt In Suffolk Crash Saturday: Police
He was airlifted with serious injuries, police say.
AMITYVILLE, NY — An electric scooter rider was seriously hurt in an Amityville crash Saturday afternoon, police said.
According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place at the intersection of County Line Road and Louden Avenue at 3:30 p.m.
Richard Newton, 35, of Lindenhurst, was riding an electric scooter eastbound on Louden Avenue when he went through a red light and collided with a 2007 Mazda being driven by a man, 35, from Lindenhurst, who was heading southbound on County Line Road, police said.

Newton was transported via helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries, police said. The driver of the Mazda, 21, of Massapequa, was taken via ambulance to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
