LINDENHURST, NY — There is no shortage of things to do in Lindenhurst to get the winter holiday season off to a rollicking good start.
Christmas and Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights, intersect this year, with Hanukkah running Dec. 18-26. Christmas, of course, is on Dec. 25, but you don’t have to wait to start taking in all the sights and sounds of the holidays.

- Amityville Village Tree Lighting
- Village Gazebo at the Triangle, Broadway Rte. 110 and Park Avenue
- 5 p.m.
- Enjoy the beginning of the holiday season, as Santa comes to town to visit with the children, of Amityville. As the tree lights with magic, guests are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to St. Martin of Tours Food Pantry.
December 4
- Winter on Wellwood
- Lindenhurst Village Square, 116 N Wellwood Ave, Lindenhurst
- 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Join the Village of Lindenhurst in a joyous day of holiday celebration. From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy delicious hot chocolate, cookies, and photo ops with Santa and his winter
friends, holiday shopping and food vendors, an ice carving demonstration, holiday movies,
musicians and carolers, free carousel rides. At 4:30 p.m., the Lindenhurst Fire Department will launch its annual holiday parade, followed by the 74th Annual Tree Lighting.

Christmas parades — often complete with Santa Claus, festively decorated floats and marching bands — are a holiday tradition, both nationally and locally.
Several big parades are taking place this year, including the Mayor’s Annual Christmas Parade in Baltimore City, Maryland; and the Christmas Boat Parade in Newport Beach, California.
Parades in Babylon Village may not be able to match those in size, but the heart behind them is just as big. Parades to catch here at home include:
November 19
- Babylon Holiday Light Cove Parade
- Babylon Village Dock, Fire Island Ave, 4:30 p.m.
- Watch boats sail through the setting sun, as they light up the water with beautiful holiday decorations.
December 1, 2, and 3
- Town of Babylon Holiday Drive-Thru Experience
- Babylon Town Hall
- 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Witness the magic of holiday lights and decorations without stepping outside of your car. While admission is free guests are strongly encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the town's food pantry.
