1 Dead, 2 Hospitalized After Raging Fire On Long Island: Police

A house fire killed 1 woman and seriously injured 2 men on Long Island on Thursday night, Suffolk County police say.

LINDENHURST, NY — A house fire killed one woman and seriously injured two men in Lindenhurst on Thursday night, according to Suffolk County police.

Around 11:15 p.m. police responded to a 911 call at 9 Storz Place where three occupants of the home were taken out of the house by first responders.

A woman, who is yet to be identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Copiague Fire Department, police said. Police said the Suffolk County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine her identity and cause of death.

Two men, also yet to be identified, were transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries, then to Stony Brook University Hospital for further treatment, police said.

Two police officers were also transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and released, police said.

According to police, no other people were in the house at the time of the fire, and no other injuries were reported.

Police said the cause of the fire is under investigation but does not appear to be criminal at this time.
