Janet M. Madlon, Mother of Deputy Village Administrator, Dies at 85

Visitation to be held this week at Lindenhurst Funeral Home, followed by services at Islip United Methodist Church.

Lindenhurst lost another long-time resident over the weekend.

Janet M. Madlon, resident of Lindenhurst for 57 years, on Saturday, June 2. She was 85.

She was the beloved wife of the late John, as well as the mother of Deputy Village Administrator Doug Madlon (Janet) and of Eugene (Ruth) and Marie (Jamie) Simmons.

She's also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

According to Newsday, Mrs. Madlon was a 50-year member of the Amityville Order of the Eastern Star, and at one time served as grand officer of the Eastern Star.

She was the former president of the Islip Methodist Presbyterian Seniors group, as well as an active member of the the Islip United Methodist Church and Music Lovers of Islip, according to the report.

In addition, she belonged to the American Legion in Lindenhurst, according to member Liz Guglielmo.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the , according to the report.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 10 a.m., at the Islip United Methodist Church in Islip, and interment will be at Breslau Cemetery in Lindenhurst, according to the report.

The report also indicated that, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Islip United Methodist Church would be greatly appreciated.
