LHS Educator Up for Teacher of the Month
Samantha Berry, an English teacher at the Lindenhurst High School, is up for KJOY's Teacher of the Month.
A teacher has been nominated for Teacher of the Month, for the month of May.
Behind the Teacher
Samantha Berry teaches ninth- and 11th-grade English, and she's one of six teachers up for the honor bestowed by Long Island's KJOY radio station in Garden City.
"Enthusiasm and kindness are contagious. There are few things more rewarding as a teacher than knowing that you've 'infected' your students with, or passed on to them, these important traits," Berry said about teaching and being nominated.

I certainly concur with [her] sentiments, and having observed Ms. Berry first-hand in the classroom for many years and worked with her on a daily basis, I know them to be true," said Vincent Caravana, coordinator of English for Lindenhurst Schools.
"Working with our ninth-graders and 11th-graders, Ms. Berry has proven herself to be a dynamic educator who's tireless in her approach to teaching, whether it be grading papers, planning creative projects or putting together a worthwhile field trip," he continued.

"She's well respected by all and serves as an inspiration to other teachers in the English department. We're very proud of her."

To vote for Berry, parents, students, staff and residents could log onto the radio station's website to vote, acoording to officials. There's also a link to the contest on the district's website.
According to the KJOY website, the winner will be rewarded for his or her excellence with two prizes. They include a A $500 Visa gift card and $100 gift card to Salon Nouveau in .
