Lindenhurst High Student Honored For Academic And Athletic Excellence
Lindenhurst High School track star Jake Albert has been honored as a News 12 Scholar Athlete.

LINDENHURST, NY — Lindenhurst High School track star Jake Albert has been honored as a News 12 Scholar Athlete, an award recognizing students who excel in sports, academics, and community service.
Jake is the top cross-country runner on the Island and recently won the fall division championship. During the spring 2024 season, he qualified for the state championships and earned a spot on Newsday’s All-Long Island team. As the current season began, he was named one of Long Island’s top 25 boys cross-country athletes by Newsday. He holds 10 school records in track.
"Jake is a star student who takes on every challenge with determination," said Lindenhurst High School Principal Dr. Matthew Boccanfuso. "I am confident he will continue to achieve great things after graduation."

In addition to his athletic achievements, Jake excels academically. He has conducted research at both Hofstra and Johns Hopkins universities on ways to recycle Styrofoam. This fall he was also named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist for the 2024-2025 school year.
Beyond academics, Jake participates in the school’s symphonic orchestra and National Music Honor Society, founded the Finance Club, and serves as president of the Interact Club, which supports local charitable causes.

As a Scholar Athlete, Jake received a $1,000 scholarship for the college of his choice.
