Lindenhurst Man Secures Fifth-Place in Post Office 5K
Lindenhurst resident finishes race in under 18 minutes.

A Lindenhurst resident took home fifth-place overall this year at the 22nd annual Post Office Cafe 5K Race in Babylon Village on Saturday, finishing the over three-mile course in less than 18 minutes.
Michael Talles, a 37 year-old Lindenhurst resident, finished fifth overall during the 3.1 mile race on Saturday morning, besting over 690 other competitors taking part. Talles completed the race in just 17:48, with a pace of 5:44 per mile.
The next closest Lindenhurst competitor, 56-year-old Roger Soulagnet, came in 54th overall during the race, finishing at 21:14.
Luke Merz, a 21 year-old Babylon Village man, came in first place during the race, finishing the entire winding course in just 16:19. He ran the course, according to the Finish Line Race Road Technicians, with a pace of 5:19 per mile.
He was followed close behind in second place by 41-year old Amityville resident Boyd Carrington and 32 year-old Kevin Meehan, a Bay Shore man.
Tara Wilson, a 36 year-old West Islip woman, led the ladies in the race, finishing the 5K in 17:59, or roughly 5:48 per mile.
