Lindenhurst Mayor: 'DPW Will Be Out Till Snow Stops'
Mayor Tom Brennan told Patch that the Village's Department of Public Works has been out since 3 a.m. sanding and salting roads.
Department of Public Works will be out until the snow is finished.
Which, according to Mayor Tom Brennan, who spoke with Lindenhurst Patch this morning, will "hopefully be really soon."
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning that's for Suffolk County. And the snow - with some pockets of sleet - is expected to continue until this evening, tapering off to flurries.

Up until today this Winter has been snow-free and relatively mild, compared with last year when we were digging out from several snowstorms by this point. But the Village wasn't taking the forecast for snow lightly.
"We mobilized really early this morning - about 3 a.m.," he said. "There's not really enough snow to plow, so a number of crews have been out mainly sanding and salting since then, with only a little bit of plowing done so far."

The DPW's efforts have resulted in all of the major roads staying clear and passable, though some side streets are "still a little snowy."
Brennan praised them, saying, "They're doing a good job making sure everyone is safe on the roads."
He also advised residents to call the DPW at 631-957-7520 if they have a problem relating to the Village snow removal.
"The DPW is open, manned and ready to go. We'll be out until it stops," the mayor assured.
