Lindenhurst Schools Are Closed on Thursday
Superintendent says Noreaster knocked out heat at Daniel Street Elementary School and phones throughout the Lindenhurst School District.
One day after the Lindenhurst School District reopened schools following the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Sandy on Lindenhurst, a Noreaster has forced the closing of the District's schools once again on Thursday, November 8.
According to Superintendent Richard Nathan there's no heat in one school, and phones are also out.
"Daniel Street Elementary School has no heat, and we aren't allowed to open schools when the temperature is below 65 degrees. We also lost partial power. Phones are out throughout the District," he told Lindenhurst Patch this morning.

A School Messenger phone message went out to staff and teachers between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. this morning, and one to parents went out between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
The superintendent also hopes word of mouth in the community will help get word to those impacted families South of Montauk Highway - which has been largely decimated by Sandy's fury and record-high flood waters - who don't have power restored yet.
