Lindy Boys Volleyball Loses Bid for State Title

The Lindenhurst High School Varsity Boys Volleyball team headed upstate this past weekend to Glens Falls Civic Center with high hopes.

The Bulldogs were headed there to play in the NYSPHSAA Championship tournament for the New York State title after it defeated Massapequa and captured the Long Island crown.

But after battling back in pool play on Saturday, the team fell short of becoming the state champs, according to a report on MSGVarsity.com.

The Bulldogs lost 3-0 to McQuaid Jesuit, a team for which this win marked its third consecutive NYS title, according to the same report.

According to a report on Newsday.com, Michael Comens had 63 kills and Rob Sarneckis had 40 over the two-day, boys volleyball State Championship in Glens Falls. And the MSGVarsity.com report said Chris DeLucie averaged 4.5 blocks per game along with three aces per game, and Kenny Serwan ended with 29 total kills.

Lindenhurst Coach Kevin Muscarello told MSGVarsity.com, "There was a lot of adversity throughout this season, but these guys are incredible. They're so united, and I just hate to see them go. It's going to be a tough season to let go of."

Co-Captain Ryan McDonough also told MSGVarsity.com, "It was a struggle. We put every single heart into this game and, unfortunately, came up short."

Lindenhurst Athletic Director Anthony Amesti said after the tournament, "The student-athletes and coaches represented Lindenhurst with great honor."
