Motorcycle Crashes Into Suffolk Truck, 1 Seriously Injured: Police

The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway when it crashed, police say.

AMITYVILLE, NY — A motorcyclist is seriously injured, after he collided with a dump truck on Wednesday afternoon in Amityville, Suffolk County Police said.

A 37-year-old man was operating a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on Sunrise Highway at about 3:15 p.m., when the motorcycle collided with the back of a 2020 AUTC dump truck that was stopped at a red light, police said.

The motorcyclist, of Lindenhurst, was taken via ambulance to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check, and the truck was inspected at the scene by officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section.
