North Wellwood Avenue Closed After Utility Pole Downed by Truck
Truck downs transformer, sending Lindenhurst homes into the dark.

A truck reportedly clipped a utility pole on Dover Street just before 10 a.m. this morning, downing the transformer on the pole and forcing police to close a portion of North Wellwood Avenue.
The utility pole clipped snapped in two, sending a transformer crashing to the ground and knocking out power to many surrounding blocks in Lindenhurst just before 10 a.m. Saturday.
Police shut down Dover Street along with North Wellwood Avenue between East John Street and Easton Street until the mess could be cleaned up and fixed.
According to a report, police on the scene do not expect to have the area back to normal until around 1 p.m.
LIPA's outage website is reporting only 16 customers affected in Lindenhurst as of 11:30 a.m.
It is advised to avoid Wellwood Avenue around those streets at this time and use alternative routes.
