LINDENHURST, NY—During the pandemic, Jahmilia Cruz and Christopher Nelson decided to launch an online clothing boutique. The pair, who are engaged, found the venture so successful that a year later they transitioned into a brick-and-mortar shop in North Lindenhurst.

A ribbon cutting marked the grand opening of the unisex fashion store, Opulent Couture, at 732 N. Wellwood Ave.

The store owners are proud of being a Black-owned business, they say on their Facebook page:

"This pandemic allowed for me to see there was a need for boutiques especially locally. I am so happy I took advantage of the opportunity because I love what I do. I love making women feel good. I love finding new looks. I love finding good quality clothing and networking with other women. I love having a Black-owned Business."

The shop carries women's casual, night wear and accessories and shirts, sweat shirts, sneakers and hats for men.
