PTA's Common Core Parent Workshops Start on Wednesday
Parent University workshops will help parents learn what the common core is all about.

The Lindenhurst School District Parent-Teacher Association Council will be hosting a series of workshops for parents to help explain and answer many questions associated with the Common Core Standards.
The Parent University workshops will begin this Wednesday in an effort to educate district parents and residents on the changes associated with the new requirements.
"The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students should expect to learn so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them," Superintendent Richard Nathan wrote in a letter to parents on November 5.
"The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers."
The PTA, along with the OWL Teacher Center, will present three workshops in the coming weeks to help teach parents about the standards.
