Bobby Mahr: “I'd like to see anything there. The problem is the Village gives business owners the hardest time to open up. They make it so difficult no one wants to open a business here. I’ve heard it many times.”

Michael DiGiuseppe: “Bob is right. It's hard enough without that extra level of government.”

(Editor’s Note: The empty business space is actually in North Lindenhurst, and not the Village.)

Michael Zadik: “Yet everyone is excited about Aldi coming to Lindenhurst. And they chose to build a brand new store in a shopping center that closed a major food market!”

LindyDawg: “Perfect size for a Five Guys. And since Five Guys caters to a different clientele than Outback the proximity to one another shouldn’t hurt either one.”

sharon rose: “My choice would be a Cracker Barrel. There isn't one on Long Island. Would love to see one here!”

K: “I liked having Payless Shoe Source.”

John: “It's hard to say what should go there, but it should be something that gives back to the area. I’m [also] sorry the store is . I went to that place a lot.”

Lindypup: “I think they should open another place for children. It was nice having a place like that around.”

M: “The real issue is taxes! More businesses are leaving because they can’t afford our out of control taxes!”

Paul Sauer: “I don't see the point of asking people's opinions about this. The only opinions that mean anything are those of the people with money - the money to put a business in there (or anywhere else).”

Nancy: “I think the would be ideal for an indoor skate rink. Fun for everyone and a party place for kids, as well!”

Mildred Perrotta: “Didn't a lot of people try to keep that row of stores where is from being built in the first place? The only successful place there is Outback. All of the other stores have had numerous turnovers in rental.”

Robert: “In my opinion the best store for that spot is an Ace Hardware. Now that Sears is closing, the closest hardware store is Home Depot (Ugh!). I also used to like the Sears that was there. The problem Sears had was that it just got too big. I'm sure if a dedicated hardware store was there, then it’d do very well.”

Doreen Barnett: “We need a Trader Joe's in Suffolk South Shore. These Stores are always busy, but very choosey where they’re placed. Would love one in Lindy! This place is too small. However, wouldn`t it be a great addition to our Town?”

Tina: “Trader Joes! Trader Joes!”

(Editor’s Note: Unfortunately for those wanting a Trader Joe's: .)

JO JO: “How about a DSW Designer Show Warehouse?”

Carol: “indoor skate rink is a good idea for everyone.”

Janet Romero: “Rent and taxes are a real concern to potential business owners. A place for children’s activities is a great idea, but people aren’t spending money they don't need to. Money is tight for everyone it seems that the only businesses that aren’t hurting with the economy are restaurants, according to the new and media.”

marge u: “As long as it's not another dollar store. That’ll make the area look cheaper and dirtier than it already looks.”

Rider: “The very fact you’re reading means you know how easy it is to use the Internet to find the cheapest price for anything you want to buy. I’m not sure how any small retail shop can survive in this day and age.”
