Strongman Competition Kicks Off Memorial Day Weekend In Lindenhurst

The 1st annual Lindenhurst Strongman Competition takes place Memorial Day weekend, presented by OG Training Academy and The Holy Black

LINDENHURST, NY — Memorial Day weekend in Lindenhurst will kick off with the first annual Lindenhurst Vintage Strongman Competition on Saturday, May 25.

Muscles will be out in Lindenhurst Town Square as strength and endurance are tested while teams of four—two men and two women— compete with reps of deadlifts, chain curls, bench presses, sandbag tosses, box squats, tire flips and more.

Presented by the OG Training Academy, a gym, and The Holy Black, a barbershop, the event is part competition, part block party, said Matt Gaudio of The Holy Black.

"The two of us wanted to bring our communities together," Gaudio said. "We're both super hyperlocal. We're very old school and traditional while the gym is new and modern, so we'd thought it'd be fun to combine the two."

While local businesses and contestants are the foundation of the competition, contestants from out-of-state gyms in New Jersey, Virginia and Massachusetts are all traveling to Lindenhurst to compete.

Gaudio said it'll also feature food and drinks, vendors, music, games and prizes, circus games, and other attractions like a human bus pull and strongman performances.

"It's going to be a lot of fun," said Gaudio.

Admission is free for spectators and $75 for competitors. Lindenhurst Town Square is located at 116 N Wellwood Avenue.
