Survey: Lindenhurst High School Ranks 237th in State

LHS also receives Silver Medal for how well it prepares students for college. What do think about this news, Lindy?

ranked 237th among New York state public high schools in 2012, according to a survey by U.S. News and World Report.

The school ranked 1921st nationally, according to the same annual report.

Where Lindenhurst placed is out of hundreds of New York schools listed in the U.S. News Best High Schools 2012 rankings, and overall out of nearly 22,000 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia that were evaluated.

The survey - which was conducted with American Institutes for Research, a Washington, DC-based behavioral and social science organization - used state proficiency standards and a determination of college readiness based on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate test scores to come up with the ranking.

Each school was also awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on state proficiency standards, how well they prepared students for college and other factors.

Lindenhurst was awarded a Silver Medal by U.S. News.

The top 500 high schools were awarded Gold Medals. High schools ranked 501 through 2,008 were given Silver because they were the next group with the highest unrounded college readiness indexes.
