Village Budget Hearing Planned for January 7
Budget season begins in the village as the calendar turns over.

It's that time of year again – budget season is about to kick-off as the new year comes upon us.
The Village of Lindenhurst will hold a public budget hearing before their first public board meeting of the year on January 7 at Lindenhurst Village Hall.
Details of the potential budget and first rough drafts of the 2014-2015 fiscal budget will be discussed openly by the board.
Village budgets are usually not entirely decided upon until later in the month. Last year, the village passed a new budget in mid-January.
The village board did vote at a recent meeting allow themselves to pierce the two-percent tax rate cap.
Mayor Tom Brennan noted during this motion that while it gave the board the ability to top a two-percent year-over-year tax rate increase, it did not mean the board would do so – it rather gave them the option.
