Village: Please Remove Cars from N. Wellwood, Charles St. for Paving Tues.

Lindenhurst residents will need to remove their vehicles from parts of North Wellwood Avenue and Charles Street by 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Despite the iffy weather the 's planned project for parts of North Wellwood Avenue and Charles Street started Monday morning as scheduled, and the Village received confirmation that repaving will occur as scheduled on Tuesday.

"The plan is to do the asphalt overlay on North Wellwood Avenue and Charles Street tomorrow, April 24," Deputy Village Administrator Doug Madlon told Lindenhurst Patch on Monday afternoon.

"All cars have to be off the road by 8 a.m.," he noted.

The weather could've been a factor, especially after the nor'easter that blew through the area on Sunday into early Monday morning.

However, "since milling (or grinding out the old road) generally isn't affected by the weather, this first phase began this morning on North Wellwood Avenue," as scheduled, Madlon said.

Once the crew from Farmingdale-based Posillico - which is doing this New York State CHIPS-funded project for Lindenhurst Village - completed milling on Wellwood between Harrington Avenue and John Street, it moved to the section near and at the intersection of Charles Street and North Alleghany Avenue to complete milling there.

Residents living on and around the streets being paved were previously notified by the Village, Madlon assured.

"Fliers were given to residents and businesses on Wellwood Avenue, and on Hartford and Charles Streets and at the intersection of North Alleghany and Charles Street," he said.

The project should be completed by Wednesday, Madlon added.
