LINDENHURST, NY — Santa Claus will be back in Lindenhurst this holiday season after a couple of years of COVID-19 restrictions that made it difficult for kids to crawl up on his lap and make their case that they’ve been good boys and girls over the last year.
Visits and pictures with Santa are at the heart of many families’ holiday traditions, but the coronavirus pandemic gave them a lump of coal. Malls and other places took social distancing measures in both 2020 and 2021 to help contain the spread of the virus, moving Santa meet-ups largely online.
Virtual visits are still an option in many places, but there’s nothing quite like seeing jolly old St. Nick live and in person. In Lindenhurst, kids have several chances:

December 4
- Breakfast With Santa, Lindenhurst Football and Cheer League
- 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
- Applebee's Grill + Bar, 600 N Wellwood Ave, Lindenhurst
- Join Lindenhurst's Football and Cheer League as they welcome Santa Claus at Applebee's. The fundraiser fee is $15 per person, and all proceeds go toward the league.

- Winter on Wellwood
- Lindenhurst Village Square, 116 N Wellwood Ave, Lindenhurst
- 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Join the Village of Lindenhurst in a joyous day of holiday celebration. From 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy delicious hot chocolate, cookies, and photo ops with Santa and his winter friends, holiday shopping and food vendors, an ice carving demonstration, holiday movies, musicians and carolers, free carousel rides. At 4:30 p.m., the Lindenhurst Fire Department will launch its annual holiday parade, followed by the 74th Annual Tree Lighting.
December 11

- 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Marvel at The Royal Palm banquet's gorgeous holiday decorations while meeting the one and only, Santa Claus. Admission is $44.33 per adult and $23.17 for one child, and $23.07 for more than one child. The fee includes an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast, a picture with Santa, and a toy for every child.
December 18
- Brunch With Santa
- Library Café, 274 Main St, Farmingdale
- 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
- Join the Library Café for a brunch with Santa Claus. Each ticket includes a brunch entrée, unlimited non-alcoholic drinks, mini bagels and muffins on the table, and assorted holiday cookies. Admission is $28 for adults and $15 for children. Reservations are required.
JC Penney stores, including its Bay Shore location and Outdoor Photography affiliate in West Babylon, are offering professional portraits with Santa through Dec. 18.
