Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Lindenhurst

The National Weather Service is forecasting up to eight inches through Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter weather advisory for Western Suffolk County, including Lindenhurst, from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 p.m. Thursday as a Noreaster chugs toward Long Island.

The advisory warns that Western Suffolk County could be in for two to four inches of snow on Wednesday night and additional snowfall of one to three inches on Thursday evening as the storm is expected to impact the area twice.

Total storm accumulations for the area are expected to be six to eight inches.

Winds and flooding continue to be major concerns as the storm lingers in the Northeast and brings in powerful winds. Winds are expected to be 20 to 30 mph, with gusts from 40 to 50 mph throughout the evening on the coastlines.

A coastal flood advisory also remains in effect for the South Shore, calling for tides two to three feet above normal. Waves along the Atlantic coastline are expected to break at eight to 14 feet.

A Winter weather advisory is issued when periods of snow or freezing precipitation will make driving conditions difficult.
