North Amityville Crash Sends Man To Hospital With Serious Injuries: Police

A Jeep Cherokee crossed into oncoming traffic Sunday night and struck a Volkswagen on Schleigel Boulevard, Suffolk County police say.

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in North Amityville Sunday night, Suffolk County police said.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Schleigel Boulevard near Columbus Boulevard, according to Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives.

Police said Andre-Marcel Devieux, 28, of North Amityville, was driving a Jeep Cherokee south on Schleigel Boulevard when the vehicle veered into the northbound lanes and struck a Volkswagen.

The driver of the Volkswagen, Henry Foster, 34, of Forest Hills, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

A 28-year-old woman who was a passenger in Foster’s vehicle was also taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Devieux was not injured in the crash, according to police.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
