POINT LOOKOUT, NY — In marking 23 years since the 9/11 attacks, the Town of Hempstead will hold a sunrise memorial service at Town Park Point Lookout.

"At the ceremony, we will not only remember the victims from that terrible day, but also the thousands of heroic first responders and rescue workers," Supervisor Don Clavin said.

On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, Long Islanders assembled at Town Park Point Lookout and watched in horror to the west to see smoke where the Twin Towers once stood.
