After 2 Shark Sightings Monday, Beaches Open Tuesday Along South Shore

The most recent spottings were in Lido Beach and Jones Beach.

LIDO BEACH, NY — The beaches of Lido Beach, and across the south shore, were open as normal on Tuesday.

It comes after a shark was spotted Monday at the Town Park beach in Lido Beach, causing the evacuation of swimmers.

Another shark was seen in Jones Beach on Monday, bringing the total to five sightings in the past four days, Newsday reported.

There were no sightings on Tuesday, allowing beachgoers back into the water, a Town of Hempstead supervisor said.
