City Council Agenda June 4: Tax Formula, Rent Regulation Costs

General meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.


1. Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Purchase Four Clean Air Diesel Gillig Buses.

Legislative Memo: The City requires four new buses at this time, as two were destroyed by Superstorm Sandy and two have met their useful life. 90% of funding is provided by Federal and State monies. The City is responsible for 10% of the cost, of which half is being sought from FTA Emergency Relief Funds. This item was approved and adopted in the Capital Improvement Plan.

2. Resolution Establishing Base Proportions in Accordance with Provisions of Article 19 of the Real Property Tax Law.

Legislative Memo: This is an annual Resolution which provides the Tax Assessor’s Office with the formula necessary to calculate property tax rates levied upon homestead (residential) and non-homestead (commercial) properties as directed by the State of New York.

3. Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Pay Administrative Costs Under the Emergency Tenant Protection Act, Authorizing the Passing On of Administrative Costs to the Owners of the Buildings Included Under Such Act, and Directing the City Comptroller to Make Billing Therefore.

Legislative Memo: The ETPA directs that each city, town or village that participates in the system of rent regulation share the costs of administering the system. Said costs are paid to the Division of Housing and Community Renewal annually by resolution.

4. Resolution Authorizing Publication of a Notice of Public Hearing of an Application to Waive the Off-Street Parking Requirements for Premises: 891B West Beech Street (street floor), Long Beach, New York.
