Fire at East Pine Street Home
Long Beach firefighters battle blaze Wednesday afternoon.
A house fire broke out at 419 E. Pine St. in Long Beach Wednesday afternoon, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and was assisted by firefighters from Point Lookout-Lido, Island Park and Oceanside fire departments.
Two firefighters were injured in the fire, and a cat and dog were killed in the blaze, according to a a firefighter at the scene.

While LBFD Chief Richard Corbett did not respond to a request for comment, Fire Commissioner Scott Kemins confirmed the injuries and the loss of the pets, and said that the the fire ignited on the home's first floor and involved a lot of fire and smoke, accoring to the Long Beach Herald.
About the cause of the fire, Kemins said:
