Fire Strikes City Storage Facility

Blaze starts in engine of beach maintenance vehicle.

A fire broke out at a City of Long Beach storage facility Saturday afternoon.

The Long Beach Fire Department responded to a call at 1:20 p.m. for a fire at 150 W. Pine St., a one-level building that houses the city’s beach maintenance and lifeguard vehicles, according to LBFD Chief Richard Corbett.

“Apparently a fire started in the engine of a tractor used to clean the beach,” Corbett said.
