Long Beach firefighters battled a fire at a two-story residence on the Presidents Streets during the wee hours of Sunday morning.
According to Chief Rich Corbett, the fire apparently broke out in a second-floor living room at 128 Harding Ave., but residents were not home at the time.
“A good Samaritan was treated and transported to Long Beach Medical Center for smoke inhalation,” Corbett said.

The firefighters contained the blaze within about 20 minutes, and left the scene about an hour and 20 minutes after receiving the call Sunday morning. “It didn't appear suspicious,” Corbett said about the start of the blaze.
Larry Kirschner, a Harding Avenue resident, said the firefighters woke him sometime between 2:30 and 3 a.m. Sunday.
