Four Queens men were charged with gang assault and robbery of a woman in Long Beach early Saturday morning.
The Long Beach Police Department received a call at 5:16 a.m. on Aug. 4 for a “large fight” at West Broadway near Laurelton Boulevard, and when officers arrived they found a victim at the scene and four suspects running east on the boardwalk, according to Sgt. Eric Cregeen, the department’s public information officer.
“We conducted a canvas of the area and the first canvas turned up three males hiding between cars on Broadway, and then a short while later during the second canvas we found the fourth subject, also on Broadway,” Cregeen said.
Neville Cameron, 23, Orain Knight, 20, and Rushkie Booth, 17, all of Cambria Heights, and O’Neil David, 18, of Rosedale were arrested and charged with assault and robbery at about 5:36 a.m., Cregeen said.
“The response time was quick and certainly led to the arrest of these four individuals,” he added.
The victim, a 21-year-old Long Beach woman, was accompanied by an unidentified male walking on West Broadway at Laurelton Boulevard when they were approached by the four suspects and a fight ensued, said Cregeen, who noted that the woman didn’t communicate to police the cause of the fight.
The woman suffered abrasions to her knees and elbows, a lacerated lip and a fractured cheekbone, and was transported to Long Beach Medical Center for treatment.
“She was robbed of personal items; clothing,” Cregeen said about the incident.

Asked if the incident was gang-related, Cregeen said that while the four suspects were charged with gang assault, a charge leveled when three or more suspects assault a victim together, police don't believe the incident involved street gangs.
The four suspects were arraigned Monday at Long Beach City Court by Judge Frank Dikranis, who set bail as follows: Cameron and David at $60,000 bond over $40,000 cash; Knight and Booth at $30,000 bond over $20,000 cash.
The case was transferred to Nassau County and all four suspects are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15.
