LI Coronavirus Heroes: A Nurse Puts In Long Hours In The ICU
Today's local coronavirus fighter inspires her family with her hard work in the hospital.

EAST ROCKAWAY, NY — As Long Islanders practice social distancing and make personal sacrifices as part of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, many look to those on the front lines as inspiration. Patch will be highlighting Long Islanders who are going above and beyond in their work and community to help during the COVID-19 health crisis.
Amanda Caputo has been inspired by her sister's dedication to her calling during the pandemic. Kate Aumuller, of East Rockaway, is a registered nurse working long hours in the Covid-19 intensive care unit at New York Presbyterian hospital.
Caputo told Patch that "her patients are so lucky to have such a kind and thoughtful nurse. [She is] spending time reaching out to families of loved ones who can't be with their families during this difficult time. She has gone above and beyond. She is our local hero."
