The office of Immigration &amp; Refugee Services is recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice to counsel, process, file, and represent clients before the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and EOIR Immigration Court. Our organization provides essential support to Ukrainian Humanitarian parolees through the Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies (USARA) Program. Through USARA, we help individuals and families achieve stability, economic independence, and successful integration into the community. We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. Our staff offers a wide range of social and employment services, including: • Development of a personalized self-sufficiency plan • Case management and referrals • Employment services, job search skills, and work experience opportunities • Outreach and community support • Social and cultural adjustment assistance • English language support • Help with school, benefits, and local resource navigation • Transitional services and employment retention support We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. Jamar Felder, 23, of Long Beach was arrested and charged with robberies in Hempstead and Freeport. According to Nassau County Police Department, Felder and two suspects entered the Mable Food Market, at 21 Steward Ave. in Hempstead, displayed a silver handgun and removed an undetermined amount of cash from the register and a box of cigars and fled the scene at 9:57 p.m. on Jan. 19. On Feb. 1 at 10 p.m., Felder and two suspects approached two men, ages 19 and 21, and demanded money outside 188 Whaley St. in Freeport. While one suspect displayed a black handgun and another suspect displayed a silver revolver, Felder took a wallet with cash, personal papers and a cell phone from the men.   After a joint investigation with the NCPD's Robbery Squad, First Squad and Third Squad, Felder was arrested without incident on Cooper Street in Hempstead on Feb. 8. He was charged with four counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of first-degree criminal use of a firearm. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday. The other suspects have not yet been arrested.
