Nassau To Unveil 2 New Meals On Wheels Vans For Seniors

More than 300,000 meals have been delivered to seniors throughout Nassau.

POINT LOOKOUT, NY — In commemoration of Older Americans Month, Nassau County is set to unveil two new Meals on Wheels vans to feed seniors over the next decade.

In the past two years alone, EAC Network has delivered more than 300,000 meals to seniors throughout Nassau.

Funding for the new vans was provided by the Nassau County Department of Human Services, Office for the Aging. M&T Bank has provided a $75,000 grant to support the program.

Following an unveiling ceremony on Monday morning at the Point Lookout Senior Center, County Executive Bruce Blakeman will join a special ride-along to personally deliver the first meal of the day to a senior in need — symbolizing the beginning of this 10-year journey to combat hunger and isolation among Nassau’s elderly residents.
