West End Woman Charged with Neighborhood Burglaries

Police say 90 percent of the stolen items recovered.

Maria Prentino, 39, of Long Beach was arrested and charged with burglaries in the West End and East Atlantic Beach on Jan. 26.

According Michael Tangney, acting commissioner of the Long Beach Police Department, Prentino allegedly committed burglaries and attempted burglaries at homes on New York Avenue, Nebraska Avenue and Alabama Avenue in the West End, and a house in East Atlantic Beach on Jan. 24 and 26, and took cash and jewelry. 

“We have been able to recover nearly 90 percent of the stolen items which will be returned to the rightful owners,” Dt. Michael Corbett said. “A substantial amount of physical evidence was collected at the various burglary scenes, enabling us to capture the defendant quickly."

Prentino was charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree attempted burglary.
