Poll: Seven Nominees for Long Beach Patch's Person Of The Year
Vote today for the the most deserving and we'll announce the winner Friday.
Long Beach Patch asked you, our loyal readers, to offer nominees for our Person/People of the Year Award, and you responded. Below is your diverse mix of nominees, listed in no particular order. After reading each nomination, cast a vote for who you believe is most deserving of the honor. Comments are also encouraged. On Friday, Patch will announce Long Beach’s Person/People of the Year.
— Steve Jacobson, Long Beach businessman. “[Steve] gave a generous donation to the Nike School to send all 47 kids to Rockefeller Center to see the tree and go out to dinner. Some of these kids have never been to NYC, never seen the tree, and come from broken homes.”
— “May he rest in peace. His accomplishments are above and beyond and reached the entire community. It was a tragic loss to the community, the schools, the surf club, the martial arts school and of course his family.”
— “They really worked hard this year to build a relationship with Quiksilver and bring the surf competition to Long Beach. That was a huge success and moral builder in our community that hopefully will continue.”
— Len Torres, City Council member. “Honesty and integrity is what he stands for. He loves our beautiful city and the people in it, [and] working with the community for 40 years.”
— . “He received plaque in September from Los Latinos for bringing music and culture to Long Beach. He is the one that started the Long Beach Jazz Festival for all musicians to be able to perform in various places in Long Beach.”
— . “[I nominate] Mary and Judy of West End Beautification for finding their own
non-profit to beautify the West End and leaving the politicians at the door.”
— . “[I nominate] Balaram Stack for bringing Quiksilver to Long Beach.’
