Growing Season Nears for Hairy Volunteers

Mustaches for Kids raise money for Sloan Kettering's pediatric cancer center.

Five years ago, Long Beach resident Billy Kupferman and his friends started a Long Island chapter of Mustaches for Kids to raise money for Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Pediatric Cancer Care center.

Nationwide chapters have raised nearly $1 million for charities, and volunteers for Long Beach's chapter's will put razors to stubble and start growing their 'staches at the Shave Day fundraiser at Sutton Place on Nov. 11. Their goal is to add to the $125,000 they've raised over the past four years.

Patch reported on the Long Beach mustache growers at last year's culiminating 'Stach Bash event at The Inn in the West End, and the Long Beach Herald gets you up to date on what the chapter is planning for this year's growing season.
