Town Of Hempstead Hosts Memorial Service To Mark 24 Years Since 9/11

The ceremony takes place at Town Park Point Lookout.

POINT LOOKOUT, NY — Long islanders will once again gather to commemorate the September 11th attacks.

Point Lookout Beach will host the annual solemn service at 7:30 a.m. to remember those who died at Ground Zero 24 years ago.

There is limited beach seating. You are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket.

On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, Long Islanders assembled at Town Park Point Lookout and watched in horror to the west as smoke filled the sky where the Twin Towers once stood.

The memorial includes a 30-foot steel beam from the wreckage of the World Trade Center.
