Watching the Oscars in Billy Crystal's Boyhood Home
On Sunday, Pat and Suzzane Kinnier will spend their 101th Sunday in the celebrity's former house.
At 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Pat and Suzzane Kinnier will be in living room tuned into ABC to watch Billy Crystal host the Academy Awards for the ninth time in the same home where the actor-filmmaker-comedian grew up in Long Beach.
It's the couple's hope that one day they will be able to host Crystal in his childhood two-family home, at 549 E. Park Ave., which they purchased for $553,000 in March 2010, and reside there with their daughters Chloe, 9, and Kellee, 22, and their golden retriever, Buck, according to Newsday.
Pat, who has some nonspeaking parts in movies that included the 1996 film “City Hall” that stared Al Pacino, said he and his wife first had to weigh the pros and cons of buying a celebrity’s home:

"Worse-case scenario, we would have a fun place to live."
In September 2010, a Patch reporter stopped by the Kinnier’s home to learn more about what it is like to live in the Crystal home, where on the median across the street the future celebrity and his brothers, Rip and Joel, played baseball for countless hours.

"Pat liked the energy of the house," said Suzanne, who lived with her family in the Crystal House apartments on Shore Road prior to their move. "He told me, 'Suzy, it'd be a funny place to live.'"
