Another LI Storm This Weekend Could Bring More Major Flooding
A coastal flood watch is in effect this weekend for southwest Suffolk, southeast Suffolk, and southern Nassau Counties.

LONG ISLAND — Much of Long Island could see more major flooding this weekend as another storm rolls in Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
A coastal flood watch is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday afternoon for southwest Suffolk, southeast Suffolk, and southern Nassau Counties, potentially bringing as much as 3 feet of flooding near low-lying, waterfront, and shoreline areas, weather officials said.
"This would result in numerous road closures and cause widespread flooding of low-lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes or businesses with basements near the waterfront," the National Weather Service said in an alert.

Cars parked in these "vulnerable areas" would likely become flooded, and large ocean waves of 12 to 16 feet would likely result in widespread dune erosion and damage to dune structures — which could worsen flooding, according to weather officials.
The precise water level forecast will be informed by the timing of a wind shift from southeasterly to southwesterly gales and the time of high tide Saturday morning, officials said.
