New DIY, eco-friendly organic lawn care product for L.I. homeowners
Unique combination of natural fertilizer and microbial root enhancer helps lawns to grow, green up and develop deep, lush roots.
The quality of life along the Long Island Sound and Atlantic Ocean shorelines is exceptional, but there are growing concerns about the environmental impact of homeowners using lawn fertilizers that result in harmful nutrient run-offs and toxic algae that threaten animals and marine life.
Entrepreneur Doug Rice, who lives across Long Island Sound in Branford, Connecticut, recently launched the Grass Rootz Organic Plus Lawn Care Treatment Program to help Do It Yourself homeowners to enjoy beautiful, natural, people- and pet-friendly lawns while saving the environment.
In a single application using a garden hose, homeowners can easily apply a mix of proprietary Grass Rootz Green Shot eco-friendly natural fertilizer and Grass Rootz Root Boozter professional-grade microbial root enhancer. Once applied, this unique blend helps lawns to grow, green up, and develop deep, lush roots that are hundreds and thousands of times thicker than typical lawn roots. This mix pulls nitrogen from the air, aerating the lawn and the process soil.

Healthier soil with an abundance of microbes results in increased stress tolerance and water consumption, reduced fertilizer needs and diminished disease. Grass Rootz also reduces nutrient runoff that pollutes groundwater, ponds, brooks, streams, rivers, lakes and oceans. Depending on the climate, Grass Rootz should be applied three times a year in the spring, early summer and early fall.
Rice was inspired to help the environment after moving to Branford from upstate Connecticut several years ago. While mowing his lawn, he thought about the delicate eco-system along the Long Island Sound coastline and wondered if the products he was using on his lawn were the best for the environment. He met with a local organic lawn specialist and chemist, and after two years of research and development, they created this novel approach to lawn care. Rice's lawn was transformed from mediocre to beautiful. He then experimented on other homeowner lawns in the area, with similar results. Now, he is introducing Grass Rootz products to markets across the northeast with his sights on building a nationwide and global business.
