Suffolk County's New Program Will Offer Free Training For Diabetes Patients

Caregivers for people with diabetes are also welcome.

Suffolk County officials have created a program to offer education and assistance to be managing the health concerns surrounding type II diabetes. It will consist of six classes and should help individuals better manage their own care.

County Executive Steve Bellone, along with Health Commissioner James Tomarken, are working in collaboration with Cornell Univeristy to bring this program to the residents who will benefit.

“Diabetes is a growing public health concern that we must address,” Bellone said in a statement. “These interactive classes will provide participants with the tools to manage and control their health and to properly manage their diabetes so they may enjoy an improved quality of life."
