Uniondale High School recently hosted its annual District-wide STEAM Fair. The event drew students, families and community members for a day filled with exploration, creativity, and learning. Featuring over 45 interactive, hands-on STEAM activity stations led by Uniondale’s Science Honor Society scholars and supported by District teachers, the fair provided participants with the opportunity to engage in learning activities across various STEAM disciplines.
"The fair provided an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and passion for STEAM subjects," said Dr. Monique Darrisaw-Akil, Superintendent of Uniondale School District. "Through hands-on activities and interactive exhibits, participants gained a deeper understanding of STEAM concepts while building necessary critical thinking and problem-solving skills."
Blood pressure monitoring by pre-nursing students, DNA extraction, DIY bath bombs, slime, edible playdough, liquid nitrogen ice cream, augmented reality sandbox, live animal exhibits, robotics demonstrations, and the annual photography contest—the STEAM Fair truly had something for everyone to enjoy.

In addition to the engaging activities, attendees had the chance to purchase tie-dye T-shirts and enjoy food and snacks provided by the Science Honor Society. The tie-dye station allowed participants to create unique souvenirs to remember the day, while the Science Honor Society's snacks kept everyone fueled for their day of learning.
"We are immensely grateful to our volunteers and community partners whose support made this event possible," said Arthur Registre, science director at Uniondale School District. "Their dedication and commitment to education have enriched this experience for all participants and contributed to the overall success of the fair."
