Uniondale High School recently revealed that Cristian Centeno and Christian Auguste have been selected to receive $40,000 in scholarship money and a summer internship at Amazon. The two students showed excellence in their fields of engineering and were awarded by the company for their success in their respective fields.

The scholarship awards those students who have shown exceptional academic expertise in their STEM courses, and is given to students who are planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the fields of computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, and other adjacent fields in a two-year program with plans to transfer to a four-year program or to a four-year university.

“Our students exemplify what it means to succeed in the field of engineering,” said Dr. Monique Darrisaw-Akil, Superintendent of Uniondale School District. “By awarding students for their hard work, we can inspire the future generations of engineers.”
