Here are the top stories today in Lower East Side-Chinatown:
- A 51 year old man was fatally stabbed in an apparent robbery attempt. In Sara Roosevelt Park, between Forsyth and Christie, the man was violently attacked for his e-bike. The suspect–described only as a man in a gray sweater–violently attacked the victim before fleeing on the victim's e-bike.(AMNY)
- A 16 year-old boy was shot and killed while standing on the corner of Delancey and Suffolk around 8:30 p.m. The gunman approached and opened fire into a largely crowded area, in an attack that the police believe to have been targeted. The other victim is a 24 year-old man whose wounds were not fatal. (New York Post)
- Director Tony Amatullo makes his debut at the 2021 Chelsea Film Festival. Surviving on LES tells the story of a Lower East Side shop owner, and his attempts to stave off gentrification and keep his local haberdashery open. Amatullo's film is currently in development as a spin-off theatrical production. (PR Web)
